Obituary For Lloyd "Pops" Raberding

Verona – Lloyd "Pops" Raberding, age 88 passed away March 21, 2015 in Springfield, MO. He was born December 22, 1926, the son of Wesley and Lillian Raberding in Harper, Kansas, where he lived until 1971. He lived in Kansas through the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl days. He attended school in Harper Kansas and graduated from Harper High School in 1944. In February 1945 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Army in Europe with the 1264th Combat Engineer Battalion until his discharge in late 1946. He was united in marriage with Marieta Schindler, daughter of Sam and Lena Schindler of Crystal Springs, Kansas on August 29, 1952. Lloyd worked for the Boeing Company in Wichita Kansas as a Facility Engineer from 1953 until June 1971. In July 1971, he and his family moved to Verona, Wisconsin and he worked as a Mechanical Designer for Affiliated Engineers of Madison until his retirement in 1994. He had been a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Verona from 1971 until his death.

Lloyd is survived by his brother, Norman (Marcella) Raberding; sons, Curtis (Mary) Raberding, Jeff (LuAnne) Raberding, daughter, Julie (Daniel) Mohr, granddaughter, Samantha Kopp; grandsons, Kyle and Ryan Raberding, Cody (Amanda) Monroe; great-grandchildren, Ellisyn and Wyatt Monroe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marieta; children, Craig and Lori; his parents, Wesley and Lillian Raberding, mother and father-in-law, Sam and Lena Shindler. "Pops" is also survived by two very special friends, Alexandra and Teresa Clark.

A Funeral service for "Pops" will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at ST. JAMES LUTHERAN CHURCH, 427 South Main Street, Verona with Reverend Kurt Billings officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 at Ryan Funeral Home, 220 Enterprise Drive, and again on Thursday at church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial with a Masonic Service and Military Honors will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Harper Cemetery, Harper Kansas. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to St. James Lutheran Church.
