Obituary For Luke John Kilkenny Hensey

Verona - Luke John Kilkenny Hensey, special son of John James Hensey and Jo Ellen Kilkenny, went to his eternal home on August 2, 2022. Luke was born on October 9, 1986 in Elkhorn, WI and died peacefully at home in Verona, WI surrounded by his loving family. His two sisters had a special bond with Luke and gave him a lifetime of love, support and fun. Luke had a special ability to enlighten and enrich those around him and he connected and formed lasting bonds with many people in his life. He loved music and the outdoors and was famous for his wide variety of toys that he loved to constantly fidget and play with.

Luke spent his entire school experience in Verona Area Schools and graduated from High School in 2008. He had incredible teachers and support staff helping him throughout his educational career. After graduation, Luke attended day programs in Madison, initially at Community Support Network and then at MARC-West, where he received special care and support from many amazing staff members over the years. He worked for a time at Wingra Stone Company and Vita Plus, two wonderful inclusive companies in Madison.

He also had many dedicated and compassionate nurses and caregivers from Community Living Alliance that provided assistance to him at home. Luke and his family benefited greatly from a wide network of social programs and support systems provided to people with special needs in Dane County and Wisconsin and will be forever grateful for that help.

Luke is survived by his parents, sisters: Kalena Hensey (Timothy Vierus) and Vanessa Hensey (Matthew Krippner), nieces: Ambrielle, Elliana, Rosalia and Bianca, nephews: Tyson, JohnLuke and James, grandmother Germaine Irene Schiesl Hensey Shipman, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. From George: For those of us who knew Luke, this is a sad, painful time. I believe all of us have attributes that are beneficial for others. Being in Luke's presence was being in constancy and a style of presence new to me. Just slow down and be in the moment. Everyone came together as a little community and Luke was in the middle of it all! Thank you Luke for your gifts and God bless your soul. Love, Uncle George From Joan: I remember when Luke was born - and praying for him. I prayed for Luke to be healed, to be whole, healthy, to be a blessing to God and his family and for God to use his life to draw his family to Him. God has answered those prayers, not in the timetable we wanted, but in His Perfect Timetable. Luke is now healed and whole and healthy and will be there to greet all of us when we ultimately enter Heaven's gate. He has been a blessing to the Hensey/Kilkenny families and I believe has been instrumental in drawing the families closer to Jesus. Thank you Luke for the blessing you will always be to those who had the privilege of knowing you. Love, Aunt Joan

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
