Obituary For Marcia L. Olson

MADISON – Marcia L. (Speranza) Olson, age 87, passed away, peacefully following a brief illness, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Marcia was born on December 6, 1936 in Madison, WI to John and Bertha (Ahrens) Speranza. She graduated from West High School. Growing up she worked at the family restaurant, John’s Dairy Bar. She went on to work at General Casualty Insurance Company in accounting. She then raised her family in Monona, WI, and worked at Leske’s Supper Club for more than 20 years. Marcia was a long-time member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Monona, where she enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. She also enjoyed traveling with her brothers, sisters and family to many places, including Italy, which was her father’s homeland. She loved to listen to all types of music… but may have enjoyed dancing to it more. Marcia was a huge Packer and Badger fan, always ready to cheer them on. Her most favorite past-time was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Everybody loved Marcia: her hugs; her fun-loving and genuine caring way; her sparking eyes, welcoming smile and contagious laugh. She made friends wherever she went and will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to know her.

Marcia is survived by her daughters, Chris Black-Puckett and Tina (Scott) Glaser; grandchildren, Ashley (Jeremy) Stobaugh, Stephanie (Casey) Gloe, and Jacob (Danielle) Glaser; great grandchildren, Hudson & Calum Gloe, and soon to arrive, Crew Stobaugh; siblings, Joanne Levenick, Robert Wacholz Sr., Tom (Pat) Speranza, and Kay (Ron) Speranza-Piazza; and special family, Troy (Kim) Olson and Tim Olson. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Marcia is preceded in death by both of her parents; siblings, Irene (John) Remsik, John (Kathy) Speranza, and Phil (Marilyn) Speranza; and brother-in-law, Homer Levenick.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:30AM at ST. STEPHEN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Road, Monona. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:30AM until time of service. Burial at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona to follow service.

The family would like to thank Kathy Hospice in West Bend, WI for their care and support.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
