Obituary For Ronald William Leary

Verona/Ridgeway-

Ronald William Leary, age 79, of Verona and Ridgeway passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Ron was born on June 3, 1944, to Dennett E. Leary and Lola M. Blumke in Madison, WI.

Ron grew up in Verona, Wisconsin where he met and married Linda Sharer in 1962. They had a daughter together named Dawn. They were together for 37 years. Ron worked construction where he drove dump and cement trucks playing a crucial role in the Madison area infrastructure.

Ron loved going to auctions and was an avid collector of sports memorabilia. In his younger years he bowled and played softball in several competitive leagues. Those close to Ron knew he was an exceptional card player spending many hours playing euchre with family and friends. He was an avid NASCAR, Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers fan—rarely missing an event.

Ron spent the last 4 months of life at Cedarhurst in Memory Care. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Matt) Fischer; grandchildren, Benjamin (Lisa) Fischer, Mackenzie (Mitchell) Rogness, and Andrew Fischer; great-grandchildren, Arya Rogness, Logan and Leah Fischer; sister, Sue Dahlk, and brother Bernie (Darlene) Leary, Linda Leary, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Dennett E. Leary and mother Lola M. Moravec, brother James E. Leary, brother-in-law Clinton P. Dahlk, and sister-in-law Cindy Leary.

Special thanks to 8-SW and Dr. McGowan at St. Mary’s Hospital for the exceptional care in Ron’s final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at ST. ANDREW CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 Main Street, Verona, with Father Scott Emerson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
