Obituary For Timm Minor

Madison - With heavy hearts, we honor the life and memory of Timm Minor, who unexpectedly passed away on March 24, 2024, at the age of 63.

Timm was born to Jack and Delores Minor and raised on the Northside of Madison with his siblings, John and Lynn. He attended Madison East High School, where his talents on the football field earned him recognition as Madison’s Big Eight Conference Player of the Year and All-State Running Back in 1978. It was during these years that Timm met Gina, the love of his life and forged friendships that would last a lifetime. After high school, Timm pursued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating with a degree in Economics.

In 1983, he married Gina and together they raised three daughters, Katie, Breah and Erica, who were the pride and joy of his life. Timm was a very loving, devoted, and hard-working father. He took every opportunity to talk about his daughters and their accomplishments.

He spent his career as a Natural Gas Rate Analyst, working first for the Wisconsin Public Service Commision and recently retiring from Madison Gas & Electric after 27 years of service.

Timm was a captivating storyteller, often sharing legendary stories from his annual fishing trips to Canada and countless outdoor adventures. He had a mischievous sense of humor and loved to orchestrate pranks on his family and friends. Timm loved riding his motorcycle and cooking on the grill for his family. He was a highly requested chef for many family events and always made certain to present his finished product beautifully, paying attention to every detail. A true carnivore, he could often be spotted spending time in the meat department at local grocery stores.

His greatest joy in life was his three precious grandchildren, Landon, Hudson, and Lenni. He was the most adoring, caring and adventurous grandpa (GaGa) in the world. He shared his love for adventure and mischief each time they were together. He nurtured within them the spirit of exploration and creativity. Landon, Hudson, and Lenni held their GaGa dear, as he was a cherished presence that brought immense joy to their lives.

Timm will be forever remembered for his fierce loyalty, endless generosity, witty remarks and “Timm-isms.” He was a patient listener and had the ability to make everyone in his life feel special, loved and supported.

Timm is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gina, daughters Katie (Justin) Genrich, Breah (Joey) Lieberman and Erica (Josh) Reece, grandchildren Landon and Lenni Lieberman, and Hudson Reece, mother Delores Minor, sister Lynn (Troy) Vitek, brother-in-law Michael (Mandy) McKenna, nieces and nephews Mike, Ryan, Ali, Ross, Hailey, Jake and Logan and many cherished friends. He is preceded in death by his best friend and brother, John and father, Jack.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Timm’s life will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 Sherman Avenue, Madison, WI. Visitation will take place from 3:00pm-5:00pm with a service to follow. The Minor family would like to thank everyone for their love and support. We will forever hold Timm in our hearts. I first met Timm about 50 years ago when we played our last year of Little League together for Teamsters Local 695 at East Madison Little League behind Oscar Mayers. Many years and beers later, I still have the same respect for him as I did back then. Timm was a great athlete, which he would often subtly remind you of years later when reminiscing about our glory days, but he was more importantly a great human being who truly cared for and helped others when in need, especially his family and friends. I always admired and respected Timm for his quick witt and sense of humor as well as his courage. He was truly a one-of-a-kind! I haven't seen much of him the last few years, and I truly regret not connecting with him before he passed. His very well written obituary captured him well, and I know he will be dearly missed by many. To Gina and the rest of Timm's family, I pray for God's Peace to all of you in this very difficult time of loss. Most Respectfully, Al Hoffmann

I have thought about the Minor family often over the years, knowing you are a special family with deep love for each other. I am so sorry for your loss.

  • March 30, 2024

  • March 29, 2024

My sincere condolences. I worked with Timm at MGE for 20+ years, mainly filing his gas rate sheets with the Public Service Commission. My favorite rate filings were those that had deadlines, and for those, Timm could be a true procrastinator. I think he liked that. Either I'd run down to his desk, tapping my foot while waiting for him to get done, or he'd come running up to mine, just in the nick of time, giving me profuse apologies. I believe you call those "Timm-isms." I've heard many of them, and they always made me laugh. They still do. I will miss him.

  • March 29, 2024

Timm will be missed dearly by so many of us who loved him. I fondly recall our adventures to Canada and road trips to Northern Wisconsin. My time spent with Timm has provided so many fun and hilarious memories. He touched many lives; people gravitated to Timm. The news of his passing hits hard... it's awful. Sincerest condolences to his family. Joe Minor

I babysat Timmy, Johnny and Lynn. He was the sweetest kid.. all 3 Minor kids were! I didn't know him as an adult, but I'm sure he was a fine man.

  • March 28, 2024

Gina, my heart aches for you and the girls and all of us who loved Timm. He was more than a friend to me. He was a brother to me. I will miss so many things about him, including his humor. He could make me laugh so hard I would almost wet my pants. My memories are full of so many good times with him, but I will never forget "Dyno" being there for me when I was going through hard times. He was always there for me. Those memories are just as precious as all the good times. I can't tell you how much that meant to me, how much his friendship meant to me.

Dear Delores, Lynn, Gina, kids, relatives, and friends. I am so sorry to hear of Timm's passing. You have my deepest sympathy and condolances ! I am a old friend of the Family. Our connections were Church, Yahara Fishing Club, Common Friends, Sports, Fishing, Hunting, Football, and Baseball. Timm had a great spirit and we were Varsity Baseball Teamates at East HS. We Ice fished on Lake Mendota together and near each other many times. We all grew up here on the Northside of town. I still live on Windom Way in the old neighborhood. Timm and I drifted apart after HS. I am happy he and Gina got married and have a wonderful Family. Our prayers are with you all ! Sincerely : Steven J. Hurst

  • March 28, 2024

Our sincere condolences go to you Gina, Katie, Breah, Erica and the entire Minor family. We are so very sorry for your loss and sad to hear of Timm's passing! I've known Timm for over 35 years from the time he took a rate analyst position at the Public Service Commission - then joined me later when I went to work at Madison Gas and Electric Company. Through those years we worked together and shared a lot about our lives' journeys along the way - through many twists and turns, high roads and low roads and even some course corrections! I will remember Timm for how much he loved and took care of family and friends, his witty sense of humor, his encouragement when I was going through rough patches in my life and his many life stories. I heard Timm's tales many times over the years and many of them brought a much needed chuckle at the time. I will remember the times we had together warmly and miss Timm very dearly.

  • March 27, 2024

So sorry to hear about Timm. My heart goes out to Gina and sll of his family.

  • March 27, 2024

Dear Gina, Katie, Breah, Erica, My heart is heavy with sorrow for your loss. Timm was not just an exceptional father, but also a significant presence in my early life when I moved to Madison. His warmth, wit, and profound care for his family left an indelible mark on me, something I deeply admired and will always cherish. I fondly recall the lighthearted teasing and spirited conversations about sports, a testament to his love for the game and the joy it brought him. His absence leaves a void that will be profoundly felt by all who knew him. Please know my thoughts and deepest sympathies are with you during this difficult time. With heartfelt condolences, love from the Wades.

  • March 27, 2024

Timm was my first friend at Sherman school. The longest friendship of my life. If Timm was your friend you could count on him for, loyalty, generosity, listening to you, and LOTS OF FUN AND LAUGHS! If I hadn't talked or seen him in a while, it didn't matter. When we got together it was the same old friendship we always shared. I miss him already. All my love and prayers to Gina and the whole family ❤️

  • March 27, 2024

We want to express our deepest condolences to Gina-girls & the entire Minor family. The Minor family came in to our lives 10yrs ago, when Tim was in his nephew, Ryan and my daughter, Annie's wedding. Since that time we've celebrated some family memories together. He always, and his family made us feel welcome. He always loved to share stories with me about the special bond he had with Ryan is a very difficult journey that takes us through the rest of our lives. We hope that you can find comfort in all those great memories to get you through during those difficult days and times thoughts and prayers to the entire family. Mike and Patti Bailey

So sad to hear this news. I worked with Timm for 16 years. He was always so patient explaining difficult calculations he prepared with all the details whenever I had questions.

  • March 27, 2024

Timm was a terrific, unique man. Physically powerful and talented, with remarkable achievements, yet mild as a Teddy Bear and as humble as they come -- with a great sense of humor as the cherry on top. My life has been better for knowing him. It was also inspiring to see Timm and Gina together. A relationship *obviously* filled with love and joy. My most sincere condolences to Gina and the entire family. Dan Jardine

  • March 27, 2024

I cannot express our grief adequately. I considered Timm my brother from another Mother. He was on every fishing and hunting trip I ever took to Canada. Those stories are to numerous to tell here. We loved hearing him tell his tales. He is irreplaceable in my life.

  • March 27, 2024

Gina, Katie, Breah, and Erica, our hearts are breaking for you all. We have many fond memories as neighbors and are sending our love and thoughts to you during this difficult time. Love, Greg and Nancy Beale, Nick, Justin, and Jordan

Gina and Family -- I had the honor of working with Timm at MGE these past 11 years. Really enjoyed his dry sense of humor! He and I didn't know it at the time, but we were arch rivals during our high school days (Timm at East, me at West). We reminisced about that last year. I added a photo here, a reprint of a 1977 WI State Journal "End of Year High School Sports Highlights" article; you'll see Timm listed there in the center column with all of his sports accomplishments and records. May Timm rest in peace. Sending peace and light to Timm, Gina and their entire family. In sympathy, Dave Benforado

I met Timm during our freshman year of high school. We had 3 classes together. Everyone was at the school dance on a Friday night. Timm walked over to me and asked me to introduce him to my "pretty friend with red hair " He met Gina that night and never looked back. Gina and Timm have been a part of my life for most of my life. I'm really going to miss him. Viki (Ross)

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
