Obituary For Winnifred Urban

MADISON/FENNIMORE/BLAIR – Winnifred “Winnie” H. Urban, age 91, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Meritor Hospital in Madison, WI. Winnie was born on August 19, 1932, in Woodville, WI to Harold I. and Helen E. (Frantz) Olson. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1950. She married the love of her life, Bill Urban, on October 24, 1959, in Thorp, WI. Winnie was employed as an office secretary at St. Croix County Extension for 9 years. She enjoyed traveling around the United States and then was very involved in raising her family. Winnie assisted Bill with typing term papers, critiquing speeches, and providing support during his career in education. They resided in Tomah, Lena, Blair, Fennimore, and Madison. In her early years she enjoyed music, dancing, polka, jitter bug, singing, and card club. Later, Winnie and Bill wintered in Arizona and attended Chicago Cubs training camp. Winnie was a great conversationalist and was always quick to reply with her Olson wit.

Winnie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bill; children, Tom (Dawn) of Eagan, MN, Beth (Mike Morgenthaler) of Madison, WI, and Kathy (Jeff) Jaschinski of Verona, WI; grandsons, Nate and Erik Jaschinski; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Olson Lear. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and their spouses, Richard Olson, Mary (Harris) Dux, Walter (Dee) Olson, and Ruth Anne (Paul) Junker and nephew, Dan Dux.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at ST. ANDREW CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 N. Main Street, Verona. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Lunch will be served.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
