Darryl T. KelleySeptember 30, 1965 ~ September 26, 2017 (age 51)
DeForest - Darryl T. Kelley, age 51, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, surrounded by family. He was born on September 30, 1965 to Raymond and Mary (Hahn) Kelley. He graduated high school in 1984, where he was known to be an excellent athlete, playing baseball, football and wrestling for the DeForest Norskies.
Most of all, Darryl will be remembered as being a kind and goodhearted man. He had a very unselfish and giving heart, and would lend a hand to anyone. He was very proud to be a farmer, growing up working in the tobacco fields, planting and harvesting of the crops and caring for the animals. Darryl always took great pride in taking care of the family farm. He treasured teaching the next generation his hunting skills, even buying his nephews their first gun and taking them out hunting at a young age, something he learned from his dad. He loved to tease and joke around with his nieces and nephews, even buying them a drum set at a young age to drive their parents crazy. He also treasured teaching them his farming skills that he learned from his mom and dad. He was a simple man who didn’t need the frills in life to make him happy. When his work was done, he was happiest fishing, hunting, trapping, and enjoying some good stories with a couple cold ones.
He is survived by his siblings, Dennis (Jackie), Doug, Diane (Joe) Ripp and Donna (Tom Kaech); nieces and nephews; Jason (Korinne) and their children Lindsey, Dahlton and Lawson, Christopher (Shannon), Dustin (Chelsey) and their children Ashton and Kace, Brad, Brent (Jackie) and their children Henry, Isla and Everett, Jared (Anna) Ripp and their children Jase and Kinsley, Jessica (Ryan) Williamson and their children Azalea, Ily and Cash, and Lacey (fiancé, Alex Meinholz).
He is preceded in death by his mom and dad, grandparents and several aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Rex’s Innkeeper, Waunakee. Darryl will be laid to rest after a private family service at Norway Grove Cemetery, DeForest.
