Lillian Elizabeth Redding, age 85, died Friday, May 5, 2017 at Brookdale Middleton Stonefield, after having a particularly good day.  She was born October 17, 1931 in New York, NY, to William and Anna Marie (née Herald) Weber.  On September 9, 1953, she married Francis Raymond (Babe) Redding.

Lillian was an artistic woman with a deep passion for flowers and gardening.  Her Orchard Ridge home of 55 years was built around her beautiful rock gardens and her unique flower arrangements won her many awards.  She enjoyed music, making art, baking, supported the theatre and loved to throw parties and dance.   She also worked tirelessly for the First Unitarian Society of Madison and was a founding, active member.

Lillian completed a B.A.-Economics and a M.A.-Public Administration at the UW-Madison.  She was a valued employee of the State of Wisconsin Department of Health, working as a planning analyst.  She was lured out of retirement three times by the State to continue her work.

Lillian is survived by her loving children; son, Douglas Redding of Hollywood, FL; daughter, Nina Redding (Larry Westergard) of Edmonton, AB; grandchildren, Anna, Nick and Eric Redding; daughter-in-law, Dawn Redding; brother, Richard (Barb) Weber; sister, Susan Weber; Lillian’s life partner, Ed Phillips and her beloved dog Meeko.
