Richard S. Hartig, age 75, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020. Richard (Rick) was born on March 9, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY to Richard and Dorothy (Johnson) Hartig. Due to his father’s transfers for work he lived in NY, NJ, St. Louis and Minneapolis before graduating from Edina High School in Minnesota before attending Drake University to begin his college education. In 1970 he left the Army to complete his college education with a Bachelor's degree at the University of Minnesota and eventually a master's degree in Architecture.

Rick's career as an architect included working in a variety of industries that brought him to Chicago, Sturgeon Bay WI, Canton NY, Appleton WI and eventually retired from the Department of Administration of Wisconsin in Madison WI in 2014. In addition to his work, he had an interest in Art Deco and Frank Lloyd Wright design, watching baseball, and a collector of model trains.

Rick is survived by wife, Kathy Hartig; daughter, Samantha (Brad Schueth) Hartig; sister, Bette (Wayne) Defferding; niece Katie Schalk and her children, JJ and Izzy Schalk; nephew, Brian Defferding; uncle Joseph Watson and family in NY and Cleveland; and friends.
